WAIT — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
WAIT is a private five-year journal published by Austin Harman Designs (“we”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
What we collect
- Email address — used only to send your passwordless magic-link sign-in and essential service email. There is no password.
- Your private journal entries — the text you write, plus any photo or voice note you attach. These are stored encrypted at rest under a key derived from your PIN, so the stored content is unreadable on its own. To make “Forgot PIN” recovery possible, our server also holds a protected copy of that key — which means we could technically decrypt your entries, and we would only ever do so where the law required it. We never read them for advertising, profiling, analytics or training.
- Shared journals — entries you write in a shared co-journal are readable by every member of that journal and are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Voice notes are transcribed on your device; the audio is stored encrypted with your entry.
- Device push token — only if you enable notifications, to send On-This-Day reminders and sync signals.
- Limited technical data — such as IP address and app version at sign-in — used to secure your account and prevent abuse.
How we use it
Solely to provide the service: to sign you in, sync your journal across your devices, deliver reminders you turn on, process subscriptions, and keep the service secure. We do not use your entries for advertising or profiling.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run WAIT, under contract and limited to these purposes:
- Apple — processes in-app purchases and subscriptions. We never receive your payment card details.
- Our email provider — delivers your sign-in emails.
- Our cloud host (DigitalOcean) — stores the encrypted service data.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Retention & your choices
We keep your data until you delete it. In the app you can export your journal and delete your account at any time; deleting your account removes your entries and personal data from our systems. You may also request access or deletion by emailing us.
Children
WAIT is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the updated version here with a new date.
